Authentic Spell- How To Find The Look for Less

As you all know now, I love Spell dresses. Emphasis on the word love. They’re whimsical, they’re easy, they’re flowy. They’re also an investment piece.

A few months back, Free People had a dress sale where every dress on the website was 50% off, which was my shot at scoring a real Spell dress for less! I jumped at this stunning bright pink and gold lurex Spell dress, and at 50% off, it came out to less than $130. I was blown away at my luck.

Since then, I’ve found myself drawn to adding more Spell dresses to my collection. But how do you do that when they’re so expensive?!

Enter eBay, Mercari, and Poshmark. I do forewarn you, you have to be careful since there are a lot of fraudulent items out there. So when searching, make sure that the seller shares up close images of the tags so you can use your best judgement.

Mercari and Poshmark is where I’ve had the best luck. Type in the brand you’re looking for (IE Spell and The Gypsy Collective), and add in a filter of your size in dresses and the price point you’re looking for.

The fun part of this is where you get to negotiate for a price you’re willing to spend! For example, I usually “heart” or “like” the product the seller is selling, then I “add it to a bundle,” or “add to cart,” to get the sellers attention that I’m interested. Next, I decide what price I’m willing to ask for- for most Spell dresses I’ve negotiated anywhere from $70-$150 depending on the quality of the item and its wear.

If it’s above $150, I walk away from the product and decline the counteroffer from the seller. If they really want to sell it, they’ll usually come back with the offer I’m looking for.

Since using this method, I’ve purchased 4 incredible Spell dresses to add to my dress collection. I haven’t spent more than $150 on one either!
